In 2006, Karl-Hermann Schulte-Hillen and Grünenthal tried to prevent the broadcast of a WDR (German television) movie called “Eine Einize Tablette” (“One Single Pill”). They even instituted proceedings against the production company. Schulte-Hillen felt that the portrayal of his persona in the movie was “defamatory”. The character of the lawyer in the movie, who represented the Contergan children, was based on Schulte-Hillen’s personal story.
In the end he and Grünenthal could not prevent the broadcast of the film.
