In order to prepare properly for the years to come, legislators in Germany amended the “Contergan Foundation Law” (which regulates the payment scheme to survivors). The most important changes were: (1) Only persons damaged by Contergan could benefit from the support measures. (2) The limitation period was opened. (3) All the persons affected would receive a special yearly payment until 2033.
