After delivering two more malformed babies in September 1961, Australian doctor William McBride phoned the local Distillers office again, informing them about those recent cases. (British drug company Distillers had been distributing Thalidomide in Australia under licence from Grünenthal). On November 14 McBride apparently angrily spoke to another Distillers salesperson, saying he had reported this several times before and did not understand why nothing had been done so far. Finally McBride’s concerns were reported to Distiller’s headquarters in London and from there passed on to Grünenthal in Germany on November 24, 1961.
