is a film about Thalidomide, a drug made by Grünenthal which severely disabled thousands of babies in the 60's and caused the worst pharmaceutical scandal in history.
Many early warnings about Contergan (Thalidomide) causing damage to adults and babies were sent to Grünenthal. Grünenthal’s executives, who were making fortunes in sales, deliberately ignored them – an outrageous instance of human greed trumping human values. Grünenthal executives repeatedly ignored, subverted and tried to bury the warnings that they received about Thalidomide. And finally, they refused to adequately pay for the damage their pills inflicted on the thousands of people world wide.
